I'm still a newbie at this marriage thing. Travis and I are 4 days short of celebrating our one year anniversary and I've been thinking about some things that have helped us during that year.... not to say we are the best at them, mind you. They are taken from a talk by Elder Nelson in the April 2006 General Conference. The keys to strengthening the marriage in his opinion are: to appreciate, to communicate, and to contemplate. It is an awesome talk so you should all go read it :)
Speaking of appreciation, I'm very grateful for strong man my husband is (ok, sometimes it would be nice if he wasn't so stubborn... I mean strong). We are in a stressful time in our lives. We don't have a job, we live with my parents, and we have a little one on the way. Not exactly where we expected to be a year after our wedding (except for the little one on the way, we wanted that)! Even in these times of trial I know that the faith Travis encourages us to have in the Lord will and has been a blessing to us. Things will work out better than we can imagine and I'm excited and thankful to have the man I love by my side for this adventure. Here's to an eternity more!
Things will definitely work out; and in the mean time, you have the best family support a person could ask for. But I do understand about wanting your own home, doing your own decorating, etc. Hang in there and find joy in the journey. ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are trying new things. Baseball batters are happy when they bat .333 so you are doing well in that respect.
