Date Day

Travis and I work opposite shifts. I come home from work at 4:30pm and he goes into work usually at 4pm. We usually just miss each other, and by the time he comes home, I have to be asleep for the next day. It makes it difficult to spend quality time together so we schedule a date day or night every week.

This week we spent the afternoon playing in Magic Kingdom. We hit all the "Mountain" rides and then headed back to the car to make our dinner reservations. Every year Disney gives each employee a booklet of discounts and freebies for Christmas. One was a 40% off coupon at a Disney Restaurant. Trav and I wanted to use it at EPCOT's restaurant in Mexico called San Angel's Inn. It has a beautiful ambiance and plus, real mexican food! About the time we left the Magic Kingdom it started raining, like, monsoon rain! Travis, being the gentleman that he is, ran to the car so I could wait inside and stay dry. He was outside for 1 minute and completely drenched. Poor man had to eat dinner like that. Which, by the way, if you are going to use a coupon for a restaurant, make sure it is good at THAT restaurant. Yeah, after we sat down at San Angel's in, we remembered that not all restaurants honor the coupon, and San Angel's happens to be one. So much for a thrifty date!

We enjoyed dinner and afterwards went back home to play some MarioKart and watch Monk (I'm addicted!). It was fun, quality time and I'm thankful Travis and I are able to make time to spend together, despite the varying schedules. Thank you Travis!

Flowers from Travis and My 1st Turkey!

Travis brought me flowers :). He's a romantic. I only had to encourage him a little. They even match my Easter decorations I haven't put out yet! Thank you sweetheart!

On another note, I found a sale on turkeys and decided to try my hand at baking one. It was just a small 5.5 pound one but I had fun preparing for next Thanksgiving!

It turned out very juicy and tender. I couldn't wait to have some.

Travis was seemingly impressed with this turkey and cornbread stuffing and now I'm looking forward to homemade Turkey Pot Pie tomorrow with the leftovers. I love turkey leftovers! After this picture I went and took a 2 hour nap on my bed. Then I got up and took another 2 hour nap on the couch. Maybe I shouldn't love turkey so much.

Decorating the house

So, one of the cool things you get to do when you get married is decorate your house, any way you want to. For some people, it's high culture and artsy style. For others, it's a couple of pieces of plywood and some cinder blocks. The decision on how to decorate our home caused a lot of groaning, crying, wailing and gnashing of teeth. And when that didn't work, I tried the begging. In the end, Lindsea gets to decorate the apartment, and I get to decorate my TV. Too bad it's only an inch thick.
Married life is pretty awesome so far. We've been very blessed with an apartment in a good location that's close to work and isn't out of our budget. While my most recent role with Disney was a part time role, it also allowed me to have the time off we needed for the wedding and to spend together afterward.
I'm really happy with the wedding and the receptions and get togethers we had as well. I've never had big plans about what the wedding would be like or what I'd like to do for it. I figured that would be the fiance's job ;). As long as I had family there, I'd be happy. It's hard to believe it's been 2 months already.
The month or so leading up to wedding was a bit stressful, to say the least. Of course, what impending nuptials would be complete without some sort of screaming, flying pottery and threats of death? Fortunately, my Marine training came in handy. Apparently the Lord knew I'd need to defend myself one day. Who knew it would be behind my living couch instead of on post in Iraq? However, I have to say that I've really married into a swell family. They really pulled off a great wedding gig, and some fun receptions. You can tell they love that this family has for each other and I'm happy to be a part of it now. Just sorry ya'll are stuck with me now, ha ha :). I'm sure, some where along the way, you probably wondered just what Lindsea was getting herself into. Heck, Lindsea herself probably wondered. All I have to say is: I TRIED TO TELL HER! Of course, we all know how well she listens. :D
Anybody else watch Dr. Who? It's really an interesting show, I think I'm a bit hooked. Not as much as I am on Top Gear, but close. The moral to that story, boys and girls, is don't watch the BBC America late at night while trying to write a coherent blog post.
Have I mentioned that awesome bed that we have to sleep on? It was a great wedding present and I'm glad we have it. I just wish we could sleep on it together, at the same time. You'd THINK a queen bed would be big enough for 2 people! Usually, I have to shove my darling over to make room enough for me to sleep on the edge. Although, sometimes I have to just stop and laugh at the positions she manages to sleep in. The other night, I came in and her right leg was straight up in the air! Imagine it all dark, and in the middle of the bed is this leg, rising out of a mound of blankets and sleeping bags. Crazy. Another time, she woke up and started yelling at me in backwards Latin. One of these days, I'm going to catch something on video, and you'll see it here first!
Speaking of which, it's late (or early morning, depending on your point of view) and the wife is walking around the kitchen, 8/16's asleep and making a bowl of cereal. I'd better go guide her back to bed. Because that's what husbands d0.

The REAL Story

Many people have asked me how I met Travis, and the response is usually a lie. Here is the real story:

A long time ago, ok, so about 2 1/2 years ago- in October, 2008, I asked my mom if I could go home and work after I graduated to save money for grad school. She said no, unless... I had a boyfriend. I let her know that if after 4 years of being at BYU-Idaho I still didn't have a boyfriend so that wasn't a very fair condition.
Mom's reply: Try online, I saw an add for LDSMingle the other day. You should try that.
My reply: There is NO WAY I am going online. Only crazy people do that. (I wasn't judgmental at all....)

Well I told Rissa what my mom said and we got a good laugh at it and somehow we ended up just browsing through guys online to find the hot ones (we were in college, give us a break). Later on, I found this:

The information he had on his page made me laugh and want to get to know this man who could be a Marine and want to work in the magical world of Disney.

Needless to say, I sent him a "flirty smile" online and waited for the reply. I got one which meant I had to pay for the monthly fee to read it. We sent emails back and forth and found out a girl I went to BYU-Idaho with was his sisters roommate down in Florida. Finding more friends/acquaintances in common I felt more comfortable in getting to know him. 5 months later we met in person and it took off from there, dating for a year and a half before he proposed last Thanksgiving. :)


A lot of circumstances had to work out so that we could meet and I feel very blessed that they did. Now I get to call myself the wife of this handsome, smart and funny man!

A present for Travis

Travis and I received many generous gifts for our wedding, and the best thing we could think of to do with the cash was help pay off the rest of Trav's medical bills... well over $2,500. Thanks to the gifts and our tax returns, we paid it off! We are excited to start our married life without that hanging over our heads.
Which brings me to one of the only two things Travis was excited to get (everything else, he says, is for me). 1) PS3 2) A nice LED to play it on. We only got one of them with the wedding gift cards and it wasn't the tv. But thanks to a very nice bonus I got at work, we were able to get it for him (don't worry mom and dad! We are saving too)

Travis' gift, a 46'' LED HDTV. It has to last us for years...The pictures on the wall were centered above the old tv and I have been too lazy to arrange them over this one. Don't judge!

This is the corner of our apartment. I love having the trees and foliage, but it does get creepy because there is a canal there as well. I walk, eh run, to the car, all the while checking over my shoulder.

Trav's little sister Katie and two of her friends drove down for spring break and she saw this picture of my Grandpa Leo. She asked me what made me decide to use a 3 Stooges picture for my kitchen table and got a kick out of finding out it is actually my funny Grandpa :)

Sorry, I don't know how to rotate the pictures once they are on here and I'm too lazy to redo it. This is my cheap and recycled St. Patrick's Day decorations. I don't know when kissing became part of St. Patrick's Day, but I'm newlywed so I let it slide.
