Sienna Dawn Elizabeth was born March 10th. She weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. We are so excited to have her join our family.
My mom was in town as well as my mother in law, Susan. It was nice to have so many extra hands to help with Hudson and Kassidy. The kids adjusted really well and sure love their baby. Kassidy has to kiss Sienna at least 156 times a day. No joke.
I had fun taking some newborn pictures of her even though I was still recovering from the C-Section. How could I not enjoy capturing the sweet little Georgia blossom we have been blessed with?
My C-Section lasted about 2 hours due to my doctor needing to clean up scar tissue and rearrange things to their proper place. The good news is he told me I could have another baby if we decided we wanted to and after my previous doctor told me only one more baby after Kassidy, that was a great surprise and joy. We will see what the future holds.
Babies born after loss are referred to as "rainbow babies." This is due to the fact that they are the promise of hope after the rain. That sentiment resounded with me and for all intents and purposes, Sienna is our rainbow baby. Something that I love even more though, is that she is our flower baby. No, not our hippie flower child, but she is the flower after the cold winter and rain. She is the bright light after a season of darkness, which is why I love her middle name Dawn. Our miscarriage was extremely traumatic for me and that makes this blessing of Sienna all the sweeter.
Travis and I could not agree on her middle name. I wanted Elizabeth and he wanted Dawn. Honestly, driving to the hospital during the dawn made me almost concede but I still wanted Elizabeth included. After the delivery, while I was still tied down to the surgery table and my organs were laid out for the room to see, I asked Travis if he was willing to give in and agree to Elizabeth. He laughed but didn't agree. He's a bit stubborn. Later in the recovery room he said he would compromise and let Sienna have two middle names. We both won. Elizabeth is Sarah's middle name and it's my hope that Sienna will always remember the great attributes of the woman she was named after. My great grandma's name was also Elizabeth so I have plenty of reasons to love it.
We love you baby Sinena (Kassidy's name for her). We are grateful for the beautiful, straight from heaven spirit you bring into our home.

Beautiful pictures and beautiful post. Welcome to the world, lovely Sienna.
