I was excited to spend an afternoon on my porch enjoying the sunshine and a good book after work. I quickly rethought that plan when this was the first thing I saw, but thanks to Dad for buying us Home Defense and Travis spraying it around the house, it is a DEAD spider. I decided to press on and conquer. And I did. Here is my wonderful set up. Minus the drink and book. Beauty.

I was relaxed and reading my book, enjoying the sunshine, when I loosened the cap on my drink. I enjoyed the fizzing sound it made. Noticing the sound didn't stop and was turning into more of a rustling in the bushes than a cold beverage, I looked past my feet and saw him. A large frog pleading for my help as he was clutched in the jaws of ....
(Can you see it?)

And there it is. A long snake.

The frog was staring me down for not helping him. It was a traumatic moment for me. Never a shovel when you need one. For the snake, not for the frog.

Here is the proof of how close I was. Yeah, I don't want to hear any jokes from Travis about how much of a sissy girl I am next time a spider shows up. When it comes to the big stuff, I'm tough!

Gma Helen woulda been proud of you, but PETA will be contacting you regarding the frog. A horsehair rope will keep snakes out, tickles their belly as they crawl across it so won't...per Gma Helen
ReplyDeleteYou had your bare toe that close? I'm truly impressed!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sick!! Glad you were safe though!! Enjoy the blog posts! ~Melissa
ReplyDeleteI am probably going to have nightmares about a my price being eaten by a snake. Now I will never know if he was the one who got away... or the one who was eaten.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I would cry!
ReplyDeleteSo, did the frog make it out alive? And, did you retreat indoors for that relaxing time? I would have!
ReplyDeleteYou were that close? Nice work Linds!! I was shaking just looking at the picture!
ReplyDeleteYep, I was that close! And it's only going to get worse with the weather warming up. I really need to invest in a flathead shovel!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would go outside again. Ever.
